Kebbi Government Slams Malami Over UNDP Poverty Report Claim

The Kebbi State Government accused Abubakar Malami, the ADC’s governorship candidate, of using a UNDP poverty report to attack the APC-led administration for political gain ahead of the 2027 elections. Information Commissioner Yakubu Ahmed-BK noted that Malami served as attorney-general under Muhammadu Buhari during part of the period covered by the report and blamed policies of the previous administration for some of the economic difficulties. Ahmed-BK also criticized Malami’s record on insecurity and disputed his account of reported killings in Tadurga in 2025, saying later clarifications put the death toll below 30. He defended Governor Nasir Idris’s security efforts, including the provision of vehicles and motorcycles to security agencies.

Citing the Constitution’s 30-day period for presidential assent or refusal, he called on the National Assembly to publish the bill’s status and consider steps to resolve the delay. If elected in 2027, Atiku promises a Police Dignity Guarantee Plan to address verified pension arrears, set a pension floor and provide healthcare coverage.

The 41-year-old, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, reportedly collapsed on October 14, 2026, and was turned away by seven to eight hospitals in Ibadan amid a doctors’ strike and staff shortages. Adebayo called the death avoidable, accused political leaders of neglecting public hospitals, and said Nigerians cross into Benin Republic for treatment. The singer’s death has sparked renewed social media criticism of access to emergency healthcare in Nigeria.
