Kenge Crash: Army Announces Death of Two Senior Officers

The Democratic Republic of Congo's armed forces confirmed the deaths of Lieutenant-General Joseph Mutombo, head of the Military High Court, and Lieutenant-General Lucien-René Likulia, FARDC's chief auditor, in a plane crash in Kenge on September 25, 2026. The aircraft, a small Tracep carrier, was returning from a mission in Kikwit when it crashed into a parcel in the Manzau neighborhood after circling the city due to technical issues. Twelve other delegation members and the crew also died, with no reports of casualties on the ground. The exact circumstances of the accident are under investigation.
