Kenge Crash: Jean-Pierre Bemba Demands Accountability from AAC and RVA

The Congolese government is investigating the responsibilities following a plane crash in Kenge on September 27, 2026. Deputy Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo wrote to the directors of the AAC and RVA to request technical details of the aircraft and the circumstances of the accident, which resulted in 17 deaths, including two high-ranking FARDC officers. The aircraft, experiencing technical issues, attempted an emergency landing in Kenge before crashing, with no casualties on the ground. Bemba also ordered the immediate suspension of TRACEP Congo, and raised concerns about the disused Kenge aerodrome, which has been inactive since 2023.
