KeNHA Lists 536km of Roads for Upgrade Under Ksh77.8 Billion World Bank Project

Kenya’s National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has proposed upgrading four road corridors spanning 536 km under a rural economic development project estimated at Ksh77.8 billion. The routes cross Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Bomet, Nandi, Narok and Nakuru counties, and KeNHA has invited contractors and consultants to provide feedback before procurement. Planned work includes paving the roads to bitumen standards, safety improvements and civil works for fibre-optic cables, with eight contracts proposed. Funding is expected from the Kenyan government and a World Bank loan through the IDA, though full approval of the proposed World Bank financing has not been confirmed.
