KeNHA Orders Removal of Illegal Structures Along Four Major Roads in 30 Days

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has given roadside traders and occupants along major roads in Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, Tana River, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Baringo 30 days to remove illegal structures. The notice, dated September 29, 2026, targets roads including Likoni-Ukunda-Lunga Lunga, Kilifi-Malindi-Garsen-Witu, Maili Tisa-Kitalo, and Eldoret-Nyaru. KeNHA warned that any remaining structures after October 29, 2026, will be removed without further notice and at the owners’ expense to facilitate road improvements, bus bay construction, and drainage works.
