Kenya: 4 mountain bongos repatriated from the Czech Republic

Four mountain bongos, a critically endangered species, have arrived in Kenya after spending several years in a zoo in the Czech Republic. The Kenyan government stated that fewer than 100 mountain bongos remain in the wild, mainly due to poaching and diseases. The bongos will be sent to the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy after a quarantine period, where they will be bred to strengthen the genetic heritage of the species.
