Kenya: Children Play Chess in Kibera Through Community Project

In Kenya, a community project in Kibera converts plastic waste into chess sets for children. About 200 kilograms of plastic have been recycled to produce nearly 2,000 games through extrusion of processed pellets in Nairobi. The project enables underprivileged children to play chess, a game typically associated with the elite, providing them with an escape from daily hardships, according to chess teacher Ian Ombati.
