Kenya: Death Toll From Floods Climbs to 18, With Eastern Region Worst Hit

The death toll from floods in Kenya has risen to 18, mostly due to drowning, according to the Ministry of Interior. The Eastern region has recorded the highest number of fatalities, followed by Central, Coast, Nairobi, and Rift Valley regions. Tana River County has been identified as one of the most vulnerable areas, with 59 flood-prone zones. In Nairobi, approximately 6,600 people have been affected, leading to family displacements and damage to infrastructure.
