Kenya eyes a single gold export unit to curb smuggling

Kenya aims to centralize its gold exports under a single agency to combat smuggling and enhance foreign exchange earnings. All gold produced in the country will be sold domestically before export, allowing the State to monitor volumes. Mines Secretary Thomas Mutwiwa stated that this system would help stabilize the shilling and strengthen the country's foreign exchange reserves.
