Kenya flags ‘exploitative’ carbon-trade schemes

Kenya has warned that it may not be making full use of its carbon-credit schemes because of weak verification and allegedly exploitative contracts between communities and buyer firms. The State Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries said Kenya has become a regional leader in carbon trading, but gaps in regulation and oversight are compromising compensation.
