Thousands of passengers were stranded or greatly delayed at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport due to a slow-down strike by airport workers protesting poor working conditions and lack of support from authorities. The Kenya Aviation Workers' Union (KAWU) accused the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) of failing to support workers and expressed disapproval of a plan to use youth volunteers as airport staff. Flight delays average about two hours, with some airlines, such as RwandAir, having to cancel flights.
