Kenya’s State Department of Immigration plans to introduce green service passports for public servants travelling abroad on official duties. The proposal is pending the finalisation of regulations. The passport has reportedly already been printed as officials complete the requirements for its nationwide rollout.

Resignation demands: Willy Mengue defends MRC members who backed Tchiroma

Willy Mengue, a former MRC member who was expelled from the party, disputes calls for members who backed Issa Tchiroma Bakary in the 2025 presidential election to resign. He says supporting Tchiroma did not mean joining the FSNC and therefore does not justify resigning from the MRC. Tanzanian opposition leader found guilty of incitement

Tundu Lissu, leader of the opposition Chadema party, was found guilty of incitement by the High Court in Dar es Salaam but acquitted of treason. Detained since April 2025, he was prosecuted over remarks made while campaigning for electoral reforms ahead of Tanzania’s disputed 2025 general election. Lissu, who represented himself, says the prosecution is politically motivated and that his comments were part of a legitimate political campaign; he has leave to appeal to the Court of Appeal. President Samia Suluhu Hassan won the October 2025 election with 98% of the vote, after her two main challengers, including Lissu, were excluded.
