Kenya: Vice-President Gachagua's impeachment confirmed by High Court

Kenya's High Court confirmed the impeachment of former Vice-President Rigathi Gachagua by parliament in October 2024, but noted he did not receive a fair trial as the process was initiated while he was hospitalized. The court stated it could not overturn a legislative decision that does not violate constitutional rights, but ordered the Senate to pay $386,500 to Gachagua for violating his right to be heard. The ruling also upheld the legality of Kithure Kindiki's appointment as Vice-President.
