Kenya’s contraceptive uptake falls sharply amid US funding cuts

The number of people seeking modern contraceptive methods in Kenya dropped by approximately 11% between 2024 and 2025, from 6.1 million to 5.4 million. Family planning injections, the most widely used method, saw an 11% decline in new clients. This decrease coincided with the suspension of US foreign assistance in early 2025, which impacted access to reproductive health services.
