Kenya’s diaspora inflows from Tanzania overtake Saudi Arabia for first time

In August, Kenyans living in Tanzania sent a record $11.72 million (about Sh1.52 billion) home, surpassing the $11.61 million (about Sh1.50 billion) sent from Saudi Arabia. This shift coincides with new foreign-worker rules in the Gulf kingdom that disrupted earnings and cash transfers. It marks the first time that remittances from Tanzania have overtaken those from Saudi Arabia.
