Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge wins his first marathon in three years in Melbourne

Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya won the Melbourne Marathon in Australia on October 11, 2026, finishing in 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 10 seconds, just under the race record. It was his first marathon victory in three years since Berlin 2023, part of his global tour to raise funds for causes he supports. The 41-year-old former world record holder increased his pace after 30 km, running on a course that included part of the Formula One track at Albert Park and finishing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where he waved to fans. Kipchoge stated that he still feels his body is peaking and capable of competing with the next generation.
