Kenyatta Avenue Viaduct Passes 50% Completion, Ruto Announces

President William Ruto announced that the Ksh3 billion Kenyatta Avenue-Upper Hill viaduct is more than 50% complete and is expected to be finished in May 2027. The one-kilometre elevated dual carriageway is intended to improve connections between Nairobi’s Central Business District and Upper Hill while easing congestion. The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) attributed delays to complex structural work and the precise installation of columns and steel components. Construction began in September 2020, was delayed by payment disputes with contractors, and resumed in July 2025.

VCDP officer Hajiya Maimuna Abubakar Ahmed said 262 farmers with disabilities were listed in the programme database, which is being updated to help more beneficiaries receive weather advisories.
