Keyamo accuses Atiku of fearing APC’s Northern support

Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Festus Keyamo accused former vice-president Atiku Abubakar of being worried about the APC’s support in northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election. In a statement about the APC campaign launch in Kaduna, Keyamo alleged that videos showing the removal of Bola Tinubu campaign posters were staged and that a purported letter citing N2.3 trillion for the rally was fake, but provided no evidence. He argued that Atiku’s strategy relies on northern votes and that he would also need significant gains in the Middle Belt and southern states to win. Keyamo compared Atiku with former president Muhammadu Buhari and made corruption-related allegations that were not supported by evidence in the statement.

Basiru called for clearer explanations of the reforms to voters and challenged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s economic proposals, raising questions about past privatisations. He urged the former lawmakers to engage communities and encourage voters to assess candidates by their records, policies and performance.
