Keyamo warns against violence in the guise of protecting votes

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, urged citizens not to take up arms under the guise of protecting their votes in the 2027 general elections. In a post on X, he reiterated a warning made by former President Muhammadu Buhari before the 2019 elections, saying security operatives could lawfully neutralise armed people who attack others. Keyamo accused some politicians of encouraging citizens and suspected thugs to commit electoral violence while keeping their own children safe abroad.
