A single terrorist organization accounted for 90% of all ransom reportedly paid to kidnappers in Nigeria between July 2025 and June 2026, according to a report by SBM Intelligence. Criminal gangs demanded N13.49 billion, or 59% of total ransoms, but collected only N719.4 million, representing a collection rate of 5.3%. In contrast, the JAS faction of Boko Haram demanded N9.205 billion and collected N7.0015 billion, achieving a collection rate of 76.1%.
