Kidnappings: AIG Ewah urges Osun communities to report suspicious movements

Bassey S. Ewah, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone XI in Osogbo, urged traditional rulers’ representatives and Hausa community leaders in Osun to report suspicious activity to help prevent kidnappings, banditry and other crimes. At a Tuesday meeting with representatives from Ifewara, Ibodi and Iwoye-Ijesa, he called for stronger intelligence sharing and cooperation between police and local communities. Ewah pointed to the recent abduction of teachers in Orire Local Government Area in neighbouring Oyo State and assured participants that informants’ identities would be protected. The representatives welcomed the initiative and pledged to support intelligence gathering and encourage residents to report credible information.
