Kikot Dam (500 MW): after a planned start for 2025, the government targets completion in 2027

The Cameroonian government now aims to complete the preparation of the Kikot-Mbebe hydroelectric dam, with a projected capacity of 500 MW, by 2027, although construction was initially scheduled to start in 2025. The October 12, 2026 circular from President Paul Biya requests the finalization of the project's maturation process without setting a launch date. This change in schedule was already indicated in the July 2026 economic and budget programming document for 2027-2029, which includes the dam's construction.
