Kindu: The ASUREP/RVA Water Catchment Site Threatened by Illegal Constructions in Kasuku

The ASUREP/RVA water catchment site in Kindu, built in 2008 with Belgian technical cooperation support, supplies over 954,000 households. For nearly a year, illegal constructions, grazing activities, and garbage deposits have increased around the site, threatening water quality and supply. ASUREP/RVA officials have called on authorities to act swiftly to secure the infrastructure. Abeli Kitoko, the board chairman, emphasized that these activities negatively impact water production and distribution, requiring urgent intervention.
