The neighborhoods of Mbudi and CPA Mushie in Kinshasa’s Mont Ngafula municipality are seeing a rise in armed robberies and nighttime assaults. CPA resident Pierre Auguste Mulongo says he was targeted in an armed burglary on October 3 and that attacks have persisted for nearly two years, causing deaths and material losses. Kevin Lokwa and Sidonie Ndange also report gunfire and the October 17 killing of a neighbor, and call for more police patrols. Municipal authorities have not officially commented, while a security sweep is reportedly underway from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
