Kinshasa: Daniel Bumba launches construction of over 400 waste disposal sites to combat filth

The provincial government of Kinshasa has launched the construction of over 400 waste disposal sites across the city to combat filth, as part of the « Kinshasa Ezo Bonga » governance program led by Governor Daniel Bumba Lubaki. These facilities, equipped with concrete walls, trash bins, public lighting, and access doors, aim to better organize waste management for the approximately 20 million residents who produce between 15,000 and 20,000 tons of waste daily. The city has also acquired hundreds of garbage trucks to transport waste to landfills, including the Mpasa site, managed by the city since 2024. Multiple construction sites are active in various districts, with a call for residents to participate and support the initiative’s success.
