Kinshasa: Galerie Palanca brings African painting pioneers and contemporary artists together in “Echoes: Memories & Transmissions”

The group exhibition “Echoes: Memories & Transmissions” opened at Galerie Palanca in Kinshasa on October 11, 2026, and runs through February 11, 2027. Painting, sculpture, photography, installation and performance explore identity, memory, restitution, urban life and African futurism through artists from across the continent. Curator Julie Theys Tshiongo brings Congolese pioneers such as Pili Pili Mulongoy and Mwenze Kibwanga into dialogue with contemporary artists including Chéri Chérin, Freddy Tsimba and Kura Shomali. The exhibition traces the inheritances, breaks and influences connecting generations and African, diasporic and Caribbean histories.
