A fire ravaged a large part of Diamant Hospital on Avenue Colonel Mondjiba in the Ngaliema commune of Kinshasa on the morning of Tuesday, November 4. Hospital sources said an electrical malfunction may have caused the blaze, which spread to several departments. No deaths were reported, but there was material damage; patients and some medical equipment were moved to other Diamant medical center locations in Kinshasa. Firefighters brought the blaze under control, but medical services remain non-operational and nearby shopping centers have closed.
