Kinshasa police arrest two suspected sellers of fake gold

The Congolese National Police, supported by security services and the CEEC, arrested Kebadio Makiese Bedi and Nkuzietuka Tshiaku Joël in Kinshasa on suspicion of fraud involving the sale of fake gold. The two men allegedly used identification and licensing documents belonging to authorized mineral-buying businesses to swindle their latest victim out of $44,400. When they were arrested, authorities seized a small safe containing what the suspects presented as a five-kilogram gold sample. Police urged buyers to have minerals assessed by the CEEC before purchasing and called on licensed businesses to safeguard their documents.
