KRA Gets Powers to Override Tax Deals in Finance Bill 2026

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is set to be granted new legal powers to override certain tax arrangements to target tax evaders, as outlined in the Finance Bill 2026 submitted to Parliament. The proposal introduces an anti-tax avoidance rule allowing the KRA's Commissioner General to disregard transactions primarily aimed at gaining a tax advantage. Additionally, the KRA will be able to issue revised tax assessments up to five years after identifying tax avoidance schemes.
