KUPPET Raises Alarm Over Alleged Political Interference in TSC Teacher Promotions

The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has raised concerns over alleged political interference in the ongoing Teachers Service Commission (TSC) teacher promotion interviews. The union urges TSC to conduct the process independently, based on merit, experience, and established procedures. KUPPET officials in Kisii accused some politicians of distributing recommendation letters to influence promotion decisions, potentially undermining trust and disadvantaging teachers without political connections. The promotion exercise involves 34,016 vacancies, with the second phase running from September 17 to 25, covering secondary school teachers and other personnel.
