The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has warned that schools could be forced to send students home due to a KSh6,000 per-learner capitation shortfall as the third term begins. Schools currently receive about KSh16,000 per learner, significantly below the statutory annual capitation of KSh22,244, placing additional pressure on parents. KUPPET also advised its members to withdraw from Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) duties until clear contracts and better remuneration are provided.
