KURA Explains Why Roadworks at Parklands Junction Stalled for Months

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) blamed delays at the Parklands Road–Wangari Maathai Road junction in Westlands on utility relocations by several agencies, including KeNHA. KURA says the issue has been resolved and the contractor is accelerating work on pedestrian facilities, drainage and intelligent transport systems. Westlands MP aspirant Nelson Havi had criticized excavations near a stormwater drainage system and pedestrian walkway, saying the site appeared abandoned for months. Piles of soil and open trenches have raised concerns about pedestrian safety and drainage.

Tinubu Has Turned the Middle Class into Beggars, Peter Ameh Says

Peter Ameh, former chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, accused the Tinubu administration of pushing almost the entire Nigerian middle class into hardship through poorly designed, anti-people policies. He was responding to a UN report that 17.9 million Nigerians fell into multidimensional poverty over three years—the largest increase recorded anywhere in the world. He urged the federal government to review its reforms, create jobs, stabilise prices and protect vulnerable households.

Federal Government Disputes World Bank’s 124% Debt-Service-to-Revenue Ratio

Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Finance disputes the World Bank’s estimate that federal debt servicing reached 124% of revenue in the first half of 2026. The ministry says the calculation includes debt serviced for state governments, while the revenue figure excludes income earned by government agencies but not yet transferred to the Treasury. It reports that federal revenue rose 72% to ₦6.2 trillion between the first halves of 2025 and 2026, while interest payments increased 38% to ₦7.7 trillion. The ministry says debt sustainability should be assessed over a full year and points to the World Bank’s projection of a 46% debt-service-to-revenue ratio for 2026.
