The Kwango provincial government has restored ferry service on the Kwango River at Popokabaka after a 4-year halt caused by a breakdown. Minister Nancy Kasela attended the ceremony and announced the rehabilitation of the RN16 connecting Popokabaka to Kenge and Kinshasa, aiming to alleviate regional isolation. The resumption of traffic eases trade and reduces drowning risks, as residents previously relied on makeshift boats. The ferry breakdown had increased crossing costs and caused difficulties for farmers, teachers, and students.
