Kwara govt drags Saraki to court over alleged cyber bullying, defamation

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has sued former Senate President Bukola Saraki for alleged cyberbullying and defamation over an April 17, 2026 social media post. Saraki's legal team appeared before the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on June 17, 2026, challenging the court's jurisdiction and arguing the post was an exercise of free speech. Justice M. O. Folorunso adjourned the matter to July 3, 2026 for ruling on applications from both parties. Saraki urged his supporters to remain calm and vowed not to stay silent on issues of public interest.
