Lagos Assembly moves to end illegal tax, levy collections

The Finance Committee of the Lagos State House of Assembly held a public hearing on a proposed bill aimed at harmonizing taxes and stopping unauthorized levy collections. The bill states that only recognized tax authorities can assess or collect taxes on behalf of the state government. Violators could face penalties of up to 5 million Naira and three years in prison.
