Lagos expands climate protection, data-driven governance to boost SDGs

The Lagos State Government launched a flood risk insurance scheme in 2023 to strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable communities. Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih announced that seven local government areas were selected for the pilot phase based on flood vulnerability assessments. The parametric insurance initiative will provide payouts only under specific flood conditions. Lagos is also deepening data-driven governance to improve planning and accountability.
