Lagos police arrest 52-year-old man over alleged defilement of 9-year-old girl

Lagos State Police arrested a 52-year-old man, who lives near the victim’s parents in Ebute Metta, over allegations that he lured a nine-year-old girl into his room and sexually assaulted her. The girl’s mother reported her missing after she failed to return from an errand to buy bread at about 9 p.m. on Thursday. She found the child crying in the suspect’s room and bleeding, then took her to a government hospital for medical care. Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani transferred the case to the SCID in Panti; detectives from the Gender and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit are investigating, and the suspect is expected to be charged after the inquiry.
