Land Party leader considers legal action over AfriForum-funded Hermanus documentary

Land Party leader Gcobani Ndzongana says he was misled into taking part in Stolen Ground: The Hermanus Story, a documentary about the 2018 Hermanus unrest, after learning that AfriForum funded it. In a notice sent to American producer Joe Emilio on October 20, 2026, Ndzongana withdrew consent for the use of his interview, image and voice and said he was considering legal action. He alleges Emilio did not disclose AfriForum’s involvement, which he opposes, and claims the film could be used to promote assertions of white genocide and land seizures. He will not seek to block the documentary’s release on Friday; the information provided does not substantiate his allegations.
