LASCOPA threatens to seal shops selling fake, substandard products

The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has threatened to seal businesses selling counterfeit, expired, adulterated or substandard products. General Manager and CEO Afolabi Solebo also urged residents to report hidden charges, misleading advertisements and shops that fail to display prices during appearances on Lagos Traffic Radio and Lagos Television. He said “No Refund, No Return” disclaimers do not automatically remove consumers’ right to seek redress, and advised shoppers to check labels and expiry dates and keep receipts. LASCOPA plans to publicise enforcement actions and accepts complaints about suspicious products and business practices through its social media platforms and email.
