LAUTECH doctors suspend 50-day strike after Makinde’s intervention

The Association of Resident Doctors at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso has suspended its 50-day strike for an initial eight weeks, effective October 17, 2026. The decision followed intervention by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and government commitments to pay outstanding 2025 minimum wage arrears by mid-November, implement the revised Professional Allowance Table, and secure passage of the Medical Residency Training Act Bill. The government has set October 28 as the deadline for passing the bill, with assent expected in the first week of November. Doctors will resume full clinical duties while giving the government eight weeks to fulfil its commitments.
