Lebanese family joins DR Congo gas market

The Bassatne family, owners of BB Energy, is raising $64 million to develop a gas import terminal in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The financing includes a $42 million package from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to establish liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) infrastructure in Kinshasa and Boma. The Congolese government aims to increase LPG usage to reach 1.2 million households by 2030, while most of the population still relies on charcoal and wood for cooking.
