Naima Yazbek, born in São Paulo with Lebanese ancestry, traveled to Beirut to learn more about her culture and language, inherited from her Christian ancestors who migrated from Ottoman-ruled Greater Syria to Brazil in the late 19th century. She decided to settle in Lebanon after visiting in 2009, strengthening her connection to her roots. The Lebanese diaspora, especially in Brazil, was formed due to economic hardships and the decline of the silk industry in Mount Lebanon, resulting in one of the world's largest Lebanese communities.
