Kenya bus crash kills at least 24 as government vows road safety crackdown

At least 24 people were killed and 24 injured on Sunday when a bus carrying mourners collided with a cement truck near Mtito Andei on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. The bus, owned by Power of the Word Church International in Mombasa, was taking passengers home from their pastor’s funeral in western Kenya. The cause remains under investigation: a local administrator and the national transport authority cited dangerous overtaking as a possibility, while another survivor said the truck struck the bus from behind. The crash came just over three weeks after a collision on the same highway killed 17 people, prompting renewed government promises to improve road safety.

Barnea added that some people arrested or executed on spying allegations had no Mossad ties and commented on the September 2024 simultaneous pager explosions involving devices used by Hezbollah.
