“Like a fisherman”: Youssou Ndour reaffirms his attachment to Senegal ahead of Bercy 2026

Ahead of his Grand Bal at Paris’s Accor Arena on October 17, 2026, Youssou Ndour told RFI he had chosen to remain based in Senegal while taking his music around the world. He likened returning home to a fisherman bringing his catch back to his people, saying he needed to reconnect with Senegal’s “red earth.” The Super Étoile leader said preparations in Dakar were in their final stretch and promised a concert bringing Africans together.
