Lodja Airport suspends flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during rehabilitation work

Lodja Airport in Sankuru province will suspend air traffic every Tuesday and Wednesday to allow rehabilitation and stabilization work on its runway to continue. The measure, announced on October 27 by Eddy Shungu, provincial director of the Congolese Agency for Major Works, is intended to protect passengers and aviation operators. The project includes extending the existing runway by 934 metres and reconditioning its full 1,600-metre length; about 90% of the extension work is complete. The airport will remain open on the other four days of the week and is not closing permanently.

The reform raises questions about how teachers’ skills and career progression will be recognized if no new certification route is established. It comes as Togo recruits teachers and considers creating an agency to oversee professional certifications.
