Niamey said France supported the attack and held Chad fully responsible, calling it an act of aggression and a violation of Niger’s sovereignty. Niger summoned Chad’s ambassador, demanded an end to hostile actions and compensation, following a September accusation that Chad was involved in a foiled mutiny attempt.
