Why Mohamed Ndiaye, aka “Rassoul Maker” on TikTok, was arrested by investigators

Mohamed Ndiaye, 26, who describes himself as a carpenter and advertises his services on TikTok as “Rassoul Maker,” was sent to the prosecutor’s office on suspicion of fraud and breach of trust. S.M. Sall says she paid him 500,000 CFA francs toward an agreed 750,000 CFA for a storage cabinet, but he allegedly stopped responding and failed to deliver within the promised ten days. Questioned by investigators, Ndiaye admitted the facts and said he had fallen ill and gone to his village. A review of transaction records nevertheless showed large deposits to an online sports betting app in the days after he received the money.
