Lubumbashi: Eddy Kapend warns Joseph Kabila, leader of the FRN, and raises concerns over security in military camps

General Eddy Kapend, commander of the 22nd military region, urged the FARDC and the Congolese National Police to step up their vigilance at a meeting at Major Vangu military camp in Lubumbashi. He accused former president Joseph Kabila, leader of the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN), of seeking to regain power by force and said he was ready to confront him. Kapend also raised concerns about security in military camps after Captain Kathy Tshikomb Thérèse was found murdered at Vangu camp on the night of October 12–13. He ordered the arrest of camp commander Colonel Kabonde Wa Kidianga and asked the military justice system to provide him with information on the case by Wednesday.
