Gauteng, KZN and Western Cape set out GBVF measures after Ekurhuleni killings
Provincial authorities in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and Western Cape have responded to the murders of multiple women in Ekurhuleni by implementing enhanced policing, community safety audits, and dedicated action plans. Gauteng's Premier Panyaza Lesufi announced the development of a provincial GBVF response plan, prioritizing support at high-rape-volume police stations. KwaZulu-Natal appointed 173 activists to connect communities with law enforcement and support survivors, while Johannesburg launched a municipal GBVF response plan. The Western Cape is adopting a community-based approach to combat gender-based violence.
