Critical Minerals: the United States and Ukraine Conclude Their First Joint Investment

Seventeen months after signing a minerals agreement between Washington and Kyiv, a US-Ukrainian investment fund made its first deal in critical minerals in Ukraine on October 2, 2026, investing about 30 million dollars in a joint platform with BGV Group led by Hennadiï Boutkevytch. Four additional projects were announced, bringing total investments to around 70 million dollars, focusing on deposits of rare earths, uranium, beryllium, and zirconium. These investments support Kyiv in its war against Russia, including projects to protect the electricity grid and establish energy centers to mitigate Russian attacks.
